"Health Literacy is an issue in Kentucky and around the world. Failure adequately to address it is a significant impediment to achieving optimal outcomes in patient care. Accordingly, UK HealthCare is proud to sponsor this online offering of the Third Annual Kentucky Health Literacy Conference, giving access to this important information to Kentuckians unable to attend and providing worldwide access to what is going on in Kentucky in this critical aspect of health care. I think you will enjoy and benefit from viewing it."
"The ever-changing health landscape is shifting the culture of healthcare to be more consumer-friendly and patient-centered. In order for individuals to be value-based purchasers of their healthcare services, there needs to be greater data transparency and a better understanding of coverage, health care quality, prevention, outcomes and pricing. We need a health literate population that strives to be greater stewards of their personal healthcare and is an active participant in the delivery of their care and wellness initiatives."
