Marita Chilton, BA, MPH

Biography

Marita Chilton received a BA in Political Science and Intercultural Studies from Fresno Pacific University and a MPH from American Public University. She earned a Certificate of Achievement in Leadership and Management from the University of Notre Dame Mendoza College of Business. While working at the Center for International Trade and Security, Marita realized the security a strong public health system can bring to a country and to a community. Marita was a Project Coordinator at the National Association of Local Boards of Health (NALBOH), where she focused on quality and performance improvement initiatives. In September 2011, she joined the PHAB team as an Accreditation Specialist.

Jennifer Jimenez, MPH

Biography

In her role as an Accreditation Specialist, Jennifer assists applicants and site visit teams through the accreditation process, develops guidance materials and resources, and supports the overall implementation of the accreditation program. Jennifer’s experience with PHAB accreditation dates back to 2005 when she worked on the Exploring Accreditation project while at the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO). While at ASTHO, she also managed a National Public Health Performance Standards Program (NPHPSP) project, supported the development of performance improvement materials and resources, oversaw quality improvement projects, and coordinated accreditation preparation guidance and technical assistance for state health departments. Jennifer received her Masters in public health from the George Washington University.

Brittan Williams, MPH, CHES

Biography

Brittan’s accreditation experience began at the Rockingham County Department of Public Health where she played an integral part in the department’s accreditation process through the North Carolina Local Health Department Accreditation program. In 2007, Brittan joined the staff at the North Carolina Institute for Public Health at UNC Chapel Hill as a State Accreditation Coordinator for the NC Local Health Department Accreditation program. Prior to joining PHAB, Brittan served as the Accreditation Administrator for NC’s program, thus bringing a wealth of knowledge and public health accreditation experience to PHAB. Brittan lives in Greensboro, North Carolina, and holds a Masters in Public Pealth from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She is currently the President of the North Carolina Public Health Association, a Past-President for the North Carolina Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE), Past-Speaker of the House of Delegates for National SOPHE, and Past-President of UNCG’s Health & Human Sciences Alumni Association Board. Brittan is also a Certified Health Education Specialist.

Triona Gateley, MPA

Biography

Before joining PHAB, Triona was an Accreditation Coordinator with the Portsmouth Health District in Portsmouth, Virginia, and a CHA/CHIP Coordinator with the Thomas Jefferson Health District in Charlottesville, Virginia. She has a Masters in Public Administration with a concentration in Health Policy and Management from the University of Georgia and a Bachelors in Politics and Spanish from Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

David Stone, MS, CPLP

Biography

David has served as the Education Specialist with the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) since 2011. He directs the development of educational services including training, continuing education, webinars, and online modules. Prior to his current position, David was Accreditation Administrator for the North Carolina Local Health Department Accreditation Program. As Administrator, he was responsible for the oversight of the program and served as the liaison for the partners involved in local health department accreditation. Range of duties included planning, training, policy development, implementation of accreditation processes, and the interpretation of the benchmarks and activities. David also served on the Standards & Efficiencies Task Force that developed the NC accreditation proposal, serving as the chair of the best practices subcommittee. David has over 33 years of public health experience. He spent over nine years in local public health serving as Assistant Health Director in Appalachian District Health Department and as Health Director in Surry County. While director, the Surry County Health & Nutrition Center became accredited under the NC process in January 2007. Prior to that, he was with the NC State Laboratory of Public Health for 14 years as a Medical Laboratory Technologist and a Lab Improvement Consultant. He is a past president of the North Carolina Public Health Association and of the Western NC Public Health Association. He has a MS in Health Administration & Wellness and a BS in Zoology. He is an alumni of the Management Academy of Public Health and the Southeast Public Health Leadership Institute. He is certified in Learning and Performance through the Association for Talent Development Certification Institute.

Jeff Lake, BA, MS

Biography

Jeff earned a BA from Madison College in Madison, Wisconsin. He earned an MS from North Carolina State University. Previously, Jeff completed a 31-year career with the Virginia Department of Health serving 16 years a Deputy Commissioner.
