Needs Statement

There is a great deal of information available (some current, some not) on solid organ injury management. This presentation will describe the current methods of treatment of solid organ injuries and provide the reasons that have fallen out as needs to operate. Also provided will be criteria for non-operative management of solid organ injuries, thus bringing learners up to date on this topic.

Target Audience

Physicians, physician assisstants, nurses and nurse practitioners

Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

1. Discuss the differences in the management of adult and pediatric trauma patients.
2. Describe the specific algorithms for the management of specific solid organ injuries.
