Needs Statement

Controlled substance prescribers and dispensers in Kentucky may not be fully aware of legislative changes affecting their use of the Kentucky All Schedule Prescription Electronic Reporting (KASPER) system. This training is intended to provide medical professionals with a more comprehensive understanding of KASPER operation and features as well as to provide information on legislative requirements for registration and usage of KASPER.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, dentists, pharmacists, psychologists, and certified health education specialists.

Objectives

Upon completion of this educational activity, you will be able to:
  1. Describe operation of the KASPER program.
  2. Discuss ways to use eKASPER more effectively.
  3. Explain legislative changes that affect health care providers' usage of eKASPER.

This knowledge-based activity has been assigned ACPE #: 0022-9999-13-076-H03-P and will award up to 1.0 contact hour (0.1 CEU) of continuing pharmacy education credit in states that recognize ACPE providers.
 
Statements of credit will indicate hours and CEUs based on participation and will be issued online at the conclusion of the activity. Successful completion includes completing the activity, its accompanying evaluation and posttest (score 70% or higher) and requesting credit online at the conclusion of the activity. Credit will be uploaded to CPE Monitor as well. The College complies with the Accreditation Standards for Continuing Pharmacy Education.

This live course meets regulatory requirements for 1 hour credit as permitted by 201 KAR 8:532 for dentists and 201 KAR 8:562 for dental hygienists.

The University of Kentucky is authorized by the Kentucky Board of Examiners in Psychology to provide continuing education for psychologists.

The Department of Public Health, Western Kentucky University has been designated as a Multiple Event Provider (#KY0022) of Category I continuing education contact hours in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. This program has been reviewed and approved for up to 4.50 Category I entry level contact hour(s) in health education for event #65001, #65002, #65003, and #65004.
