Biosketch
Dr. McClain is double boarded in Addiction Medicine and Family Medicine. She attended the University of Kentucky for undergraduate and medical school then proceeded to be accepted into the 3+3 program at the University of Kentucky in their Family Medicine Residency program.
Following residency, Dr. McClain accepted a position as a full-time family medicine primary care provider with the Lexington Clinic, a multi-specialty practice in Lexington, KY. She provided primary care to all ages for 20 years along with being a volunteer faculty member for the University of Kentucky, providing training for medical students and residents. With the changing healthcare arena, Dr. McClain desired to help navigate and be a factor in finding solutions for our healthcare complexities. She followed this dedication and became a Certified Physician Executive then proceeded to achieve a Master’s in Healthcare Quality and Safety Management from Thomas Jefferson University.
Dr. McClain accepted the position of Associate Chief Medical Officer at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in 2016. During her three years of leadership at St. Claire, Dr. McClain found a passion for treating the vulnerable patient population of those suffering from substance abuse and addiction. She followed this passion, leading to becoming board certified in addiction medicine, and is currently the acting Kentucky State Medical Director for BrightView Addiction Treatment Centers. She also continues to provide education to medical providers across the state of KY regarding Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) assisted by a $900,000 HRSA grant she was fundamental in helping to secure with the NE AHEC group.
