Biosketch
As Director of Sports Medicine at Rush since 1986, Bernard Bach Jr., M.D., has developed a nationally recognized sports medicine program. Dr. Bach has published over 375 scientific papers, abstracts and book chapters. He serves on numerous national sports committees, editorial boards, and is an educator of residents, fellows, and his patients. Dr. Bach is board certified (1989) and recertified (1999) by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Bach has served as President of the Quigley and Herodicus Sports Medicine Societies and will become President of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine in 2007-8. He has also served on the national boards of the Illinois Special Olympics, and the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation. He is the editor for the Journal of Knee Surgery. Dr. Bach has been selected to the Chicago Magazine's "Top Doctors" in 1996, 2000, 2004, 2006, and again in 2008, and is recognized nationally and internationally as a leader in sports medicine. He was inducted into the Illinois Athletic Trainer's "Hall of Fame" in 1995. He, along with the other members of the sports medicine division, was selected and continues to be a team physician for the Chicago White Sox baseball team since 2004.
