Biosketch
Christine (Tina) Runyan, PhD, ABPP is an associate clinical professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. She is the director of Behavioral Science for the Worcester Family Medicine Residency Program and the director of an APA accredited, two year Post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical Health Psychology in primary care. Dr. Runyan received her B.S. in biopsychology at the University of Maryland in 1992, her M.S. and Ph.D., in clinical psychology from Virginia Tech, in 1995 and 1998, respectively. She spent six years on active duty in the US Air Force (USAF) as a psychologist where she served as the project manager for the Behavioral Health Optimization Project. This was the USAF Surgeon General’s initiative that defined integrated care services for the Air Force Medical Service and Dr. Runyan was the primary author on the Air Force’s manual for integration that has been used to train hundreds of clinicians and to integrate numerous primary care clinics across the nation and worldwide. Since leaving the USAF, Dr. Runyan has been a behavioral health consultant at two Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and currently at an academic medicine clinic. She has also served in a variety of other roles all geared toward the promulgation of integrated care, including writing books and book chapters, presenting at local, state, and national conferences, teaching, consulting, training graduate students and medical residents, as well as serving on panels, workgroups, and the Board of Directors for the Collaborative Family Healthcare Association (CFHA). Her passion for the past 15 years has been practicing, teaching and training providers at all levels to work collaboratively in primary care.
