Biosketch
Robert Graham is national program director of the Aligning Forces for Quality Program (AF4Q), the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s signature effort to strengthen the health care system by improving the quality and equality of care. AF4Q, which brings together providers, consumers, and public and private sector payers to promote innovation, is currently based in 16 sites across the United States, with the national program office housed at George Washington University.
An expert in health policy and family medicine, Dr. Graham has written and spoken extensively about health care reform, the need for universal coverage, federal workforce health policy and the organizational characteristics of effective health systems. He held the position of endowed chair in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine from 2005 to 2011 and remains an adjunct professor at that school.
Previously, Dr. Graham held leadership positions in the federal government, including Administrator of the Health Resources and Services Administration and senior positions at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. From 1985 to 2000, he headed the American Academy of Family Physicians. Currently, Dr. Graham chairs the board of the Alliance for Health Reform and is a member of the Institute of Medicine.
