Biosketch
Dr. Salas earned his bachelor’s degree in Cell & Molecular Biology and his medical degree from Texas Tech University. Dr. Salas then dedicated six years to specialty training in Internal Medicine and subspecialty training in Gastroenterology at the University of Kentucky. Afterward he pursued additional training in Advanced and Interventional Gastroenterology at the University of Kentucky.
Dr. Salas is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He has interests in pancreas and biliary disease, Barrett’s esophagus and diseases of the upper and lower GI tract. As an Advanced Interventional Gastroenterologist, Dr. Salas is capable of minimally invasive endoscopic procedures such as ERCP, radio frequency ablation, mucosal resections of spreading tumors, endoluminal stenting and is the first in the region to bring endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
