Biosketch
Dr. Kovarik directs the College’s dental outreach programs that provide health services research, student education, and services to over 8,000 children in rural and underserved areas of the state.
He is the principle investigator on a HRSA grant funding the Development of Community-Based Faculty in rural areas of Kentucky and a network of practices and clinics in these areas where students will rotate in their educational program.
Dr. Kovarik has been with the College of Dentistry for 23 years and has held a wide variety of positions in the College including Director of Operative Dentistry, Division Head of Restorative Dentistry, Chair of the Department of Oral Health Practice, Acting Dean of the College of Dentistry, Director of Dental Outreach, and Division Head of Dental Public Health.
His current interests are in community-based dental education and in health care services research.
