Biosketch
James K. Hartsfield, Jr., DMD, PhD received his dental degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, and his PhD in Medical Sciences from the University of South Florida College of Medicine. He served his residencies in Medical Genetics at the Indiana Univeristy School of Medicine, and the Univeristy of South Florida College of Medicine. His residency in Orthodontics was at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Hartsfield completed a fellowship in Pediatrics Research at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He has been the E. Preston Hicks Endowed Professor of Orthodontics and Oral Health Research for nine years at the University of Kentucky, and is an adjunct professor at the Indiana Univeristy Schools of Medicine and Dentistry, and the Univeristy of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry. Dr. Hartsfield is the Director for the Graduate Orthodontic Residency Program, the Craniofacial Biology Externship Program, the Craniofacial Genetics Fellowship Program, and the Center for Oral Health Research Hereditary Genetics and Genomics core lab at the University of Kentucky. He is a past President of the Society of Craniofacial Genetics, and is certified with the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics, and the American Board of Orthodontics.
