William S. Black, MD

W. Scott Black, MD received his medical degree from the University of Kentucky. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Kentucky Department of Family and Community Medicine where he also served as Chief Resident. He later completed a Sports Medicine fellowship at Wake Forest University. Dr. Black is also board certified in Obesity Medicine, he has a Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology, and a graduate certificate in Sports Nutrition. He has over 30 years of experience practicing and teaching Family and Sports Medicine utilizing a lifestyle first approach. He is currently the Clinical Director of the University of Kentucky University Health Service. Prior to returning to UK, he started a community – based Lifestyle Medicine practice at Owensboro Health in Owensboro, KY. He has been back at UK since August 2023.
