Biosketch
Moaath Mustafa Ali graduated as the valedictorian of his class in 2012 from the University of Jordan, receiving his M.D. degree. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the Cleveland Clinic as part of the clinical scholar track. After his residency, he worked as an academic hospitalist for two years at the University of Toledo. Later, he pursued a Master's in Public Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, with certification in Clinical Trial Design, Epidemiology, and Biostatistics. In 2022, he completed a hematology and medical oncology fellowship at the University of Maryland, where he worked in Dr. Maria Baer’s lab, researching the combination of FLT3 inhibitors with PP2A activators in leukemia cell lines and primary samples. Since 2022, Moaath has worked at Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Center as an expert in myeloid neoplasms and acute leukemias. He is also an assistant professor of medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve. Moaath is currently pursuing a part-time Master's Degree in Biotechnology at Johns Hopkins, with a focus on molecular targets and drug discovery.
Moaath's primary area of clinical focus and research interests are myeloid neoplasms, particularly acute myeloid leukemia (AML). He is a member of the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in AML and uses causal inferential techniques to study the impact of different therapeutic approaches in AML. He has mentored over 30 trainees on clinical research methods and established and designed the leukemia databases at the University of Maryland and Cleveland Clinic. Moaath is also an investigator in several national clinical trials for AML. He has published over 35 papers on various topics, leading the design and biostatistical analysis of data. He is currently pursuing several translational research projects in AML at the Cleveland Clinic.
