Biosketch
Thomas B. Wine was first elected as the Commonwealth's Attorney for the 30th Judicial Circuit in November 2012. He was reelected to a second 6 year term in 2018, when he ran unopposed. Prior to being elected Commonwealth's Attorney, Tom enjoyed serving in the Justice system as both a prosecutor and a judge. He served as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney and Assistant Attorney General between October 1980 and December 1990. Tom was elected as a circuit court judge in November 1991 and served a total of 15 years. He also served 5 years on the Kentucky court of Appeals. In 1997 the Louisville Bar Association recognized him as Judge of the Year. The Jefferson Circuit Court term elected him as Chief Judge in 2000. He has co-chaired the American Bar Association Racial Justice and Diversity Committee, and served on the Board of Directors for the Pretrial Justice Institute, and serves on the National Leadership Council for Fight Crime: Invest in Kids. Tom has been a Master in the American Inns of Court, Louis D. Brandeis Inn and has served as the President of the Inn for 2 years. In addition to the awards described above, in 2009, he received the Fair Administration of Justice Award from the Kentucky Association Criminal Defense Lawyers. In 2016 the Kentucky Commonwealth’s Attorney Association awarded him the Sword of Justice Award. In 2017 Tom received the Judge Benjamin Shobe Civility and Professionalism Award from the Louisville Bar Association. Tom has volunteered in the Community for several years and in 1996 received the Community Service Award presented by Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO. He volunteered for 16 years with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He has served on the board of directors for the Exploited Children’s’ Help Organization and the David L. Armstrong Demonstration Project / Jefferson Memorial Forrest.
