Dr Kumaraswamy received his medical degree at Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research JIPMER India He completed both his neurology residency and neuromuscular disorders fellowship at Case Western Reserve University University Hospitals ClevelandHe has clinical and research interests in ALS and other neuromuscular disorders as well as in inpatient general neurology He is passionate about teaching and was awarded the Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award by the UK College of Medicine Office of GME in 2022He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology and Neuromuscular Medicine and by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine in Electromyography He has expertise in nerve and muscle ultrasonography
