Biosketch
Dr. Lauren A. Baldassarre is Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and Radiology & Biomedical Imaging at Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, CT. She is the Director of the Yale Smilow Cancer Center Cardio-Oncology Program and the Cardiology Director of Cardiac MR/CT for Yale New Haven Hospital. She holds clinical and research expertise in the use of advanced multimodality cardiac imaging for the detection, management, and prevention of cardiotoxicity from cancer therapeutics.
She earned her MD at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC and completed her internal medicine residency at New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center in NYC. This was followed by cardiology fellowship at Medstar Georgetown University-Washington Hospital Center, where she focused on multimodality cardiac imaging, with dedicated training in cardiac MRI and CT. She then completed an additional fellowship in advanced cardiac imaging and cardio-oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC.
Dr. Baldassarre is a member of the American College of Cardiology Cardio-Oncology Section Leadership Council and is the Chair of the International Cardio-Oncology Society Imaging Work Group. She is the chair of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Cardio-Oncology special interest group and is a member of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography cardio-oncology writing group. She has contributed to as well as lead prior and ongoing expert consensus documents and has other numerous publications within these fields. She has recent and current funded study in the investigation of advanced cardiac MRI techniques for detection of cardiotoxicity from cancer immunotherapy agents.
