Biosketch
Charles Dietrich is currently an Associate Professor in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Kentucky where he serves as Associate Fellowship Director and Medical Director for the Women’s Care Unit. He completed his undergraduate studies in Environmental Engineering at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1993 and then graduated from medical school at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in 1997. Dr. Dietrich then pursued residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii and fellowship training in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Kentucky. He returned to Tripler Army Medical Center after fellowship to fulfill his military obligation, retiring in 2018 as a Colonel with twenty-one years of service. During his military career, COL Dietrich had two tours in Iraq as a General Surgeon on the 8th Forward Surgical Team and as a Battalion Surgeon for the 1-27 Infantry Battalion. He was also the Chief of Gynecologic Oncology and the Program Director for the Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program at Tripler. Dr. Dietrich is active in the Society of Gynecologic Oncology serving on the Education Committee, and he is a board examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. His research interests currently revolve around the application of HIPEC to ovarian cancer, and he is engaged in the Ovarian Cancer Screening Program.
