Biosketch
Dr. Balakrishnan earned a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from and completed internship at the Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute Chennai, in Tamil Nadu, India. She completed a Pediatrics Residency at the University of Florida Health Science Center-Shands/Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Florida, and a Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University/Women and Infants Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. She is a Diplomate, American Board of Pediatrics and American Board of Pediatrics Sub-board of Neonatal-Perinatal and is Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB, American Society for Quality).
Dr. Balakrishnan is a neonatologist, quality improvement specialist, and clinician educator. Her quality improvement research is focused on neonatal abstinence syndrome, communication, and sepsis.
