Biosketch
Caroline Thomas Barnhart, MSS, LCSW is the Director of Behavioral Health at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health, where she is leading the effort to integrate behavioral health across the continuum of care. She successfully integrated behavioral health counselors in in over 30 primary care practices and several specialty care settings where they are using evidence based screening and interventions. Her commitment to improving behavioral health service delivery includes efforts to increase access, assure quality, reduce stigma, enhance collaboration and improve patient outcomes. She is a strong advocate for the importance of addressing mental health, substance use and behavior change in primary care settings to achieve healthier people in healthier communities.
She earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Bryn Mawr College and her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Millersville University. She also completed a Certificate in Integrated Behavioral Health and Primary Care through the University of Michigan.
