Biosketch
After earning his medical degree from the Damascus University School of Medicine in Syria, Dr. Alkhouli completed his medicine residency and cardiovascular fellowship at Temple University, where he also served as a chief resident and a chief fellow. He also completed an advanced fellowship in coronary and endovascular interventions at University of Rochester, and an advanced fellowship in structural heart disease interventions at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
Dr. Alkhouli is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, Vascular Medicine, and Endovascular Intervention.
Dr. Alkhouli is an author of over 100 peer reviewed articles and book chapters. He is a primary investigator of several clinical trials on cutting edge therapies in structural heart interventions and high risk coronary interventions such as the AMULET left atrial appendage IDE trial, door to unloading with IMPELLA CP system in acute myocardial infarction (DTU). His research interests in addition encompass outcomes and disparity research, patient reported outcomes, stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation and transcatheter aortic valve replacement.
