Biosketch
I am an assistant professor of medicine and I work in the division of pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Kentucky. I did my undergraduate training at the American University of Beirut and I graduated with distinction with bachelors in biology in 2006. I attended the American University of Beirut for my degree in medicine. I also did one year of surgical internship before I travelled to the United States to pursue further higher training. I did my internal medicine residency at the University of Kansas-Wichita and pursued a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Henry Ford hospital in Detroit, Michigan. My interest in ILD started during my second year of fellowship after which I dedicated more time on that service. I joined the University of Kentucky as faculty back in August 2017 and I am co-leading and helping in establishing the interstitial lung disease program there. My interest for research goes back to when I was an undergraduate student. At that time, I volunteered to work on animal studies. I wrote several abstracts during my residency and fellowship training and published multiple case reports. Once I started as faculty at the University of Kentucky, I lead the PF-ILD study as the PI and I have multiple ongoing research projects and manuscripts awaiting acceptance. My interest in understanding the business side of medicine and administration lead me to pursuing a masters in business administration with a focus on health care track.
