Biosketch
Dr. Ardis Dee Hoven is an Infectious Disease physician who is a former President of the Kentucky Medical Association, former Chair of the Board of Trustees and President of the American Medical Association, and past Chair of Council of the World Medical Association. It was her work in the early years of the HIV/AIDS epidemic that resulted in extensive involvement and leadership in organized medicine in the US and globally.
Her career in medicine is extensive. As a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, she completed her Internal Medicine training and an Infectious Disease fellowship at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. She established a highly successful private practice at the Lexington Clinic and currently is a Professor of Medicine at the University of KY College Of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases. Upon the completion of her work at the American Medical Association, she served as an Infectious Disease consultant to the KY Department for Public Health. Currently, Dr. Hoven is the Medical Director of the Harm Reduction Initiative, a collaboration with the Department for Public Health and the University of KY.
Dr. Hoven currently serves as Chair of The Board of Advisors for the College of Public at the University of KY, as a member of the Board of Trustees of Midway University, and as a member of the Board of Directors of Trinity Guardian.
