Biosketch
Dr. Apple has earned in Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. all from Western Michigan University and now works as an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine as a licensed psychologist. His career has focused primarily on psychological assessment and evaluation for children and adolescents and more recently on Autism evaluations. In addition, Dr. Apple developed and implemented an Integrated Behavioral Health service providing short-term behavioral health services within the outpatient pediatric clinic.
His dissertation was a qualitative study researching Adolescents’ Experience of the Factors Influencing their Diabetes Treatment Regimen. This interested as expanded to several book chapters on psychosocial adaptation to chronic illness. Future research interests include Integrated Behavioral Health in pediatric practice, training medical students and residents in interpersonal communication, and the role of psychologist in improving medical outcomes.
