Biosketch
Jerome Siy, MD, SFHM is the Department Chair for Hospital Medicine for HealthPartners. He also holds an appointment of Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical School.
Jerome obtained his medical degree from Mayo Medical School and completed Internal Medicine residency at the University of Minnesota. He subsequently joined HealthPartners in 2000 as a hospitalist. In 2006 he became Chief of Hospital Medicine at Regions Hospital, and then Department Chair in 2010, overseeing the HealthPartners Hospital Medicine program at 8 hospitals in the Twin Cities metro area and St. Croix Valley in western Wisconsin. He sits on two system hospital boards of directors.
Jerome is a Senior Fellow in Hospital Medicine (SFHM) and an active member of the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM). He has served on multiple national committees and task forces for SHM. Currently, Jerome is chair of the SHM practice management committee and led the development of the SHM hospitalist engagement survey. Currently, he is leading SHM’s taskforce on hospitalist burnout. Additionally, he is the cofounder and past president of the Minnesota Chapter of SHM.
In 2011, Jerome completed an 8-month sabbatical in East Asia where he studied Mandarin Chinese and visited multiple health systems. In addition to visiting foreign health systems in Europe and Asia, Jerome has hosted visiting physicians and policy makers from overseas. He speaks nationally and internationally about hospital medicine in educational and clinical forums and participated in medical missions. His current areas of interest are in rural medicine, telemedicine, innovation, and professional development.
Jerome was named to Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal's "40 under 40" in 2007 and was awarded SHM's Award for Clinical Excellence in 2009.
