Biosketch
James Pile, MD, FACP, SFHM currently practices as a hospitalist at the MetroHealth Campus of Case Western Reserve University, where he also serves as program director of the internal medicine residency and is an associate professor of medicine at the CWRU School of Medicine. Dr. Pile received his medical degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine, and completed internal medicine residency training at the University Hospitals of Cleveland Campus of Case Western Reserve University. Following a fellowship in infectious diseases at the National Naval Medical Center, he practiced as an infectious diseases specialist in the Navy prior to migrating to the brave new world of hospital medicine in the early days of the specialty. He is former editor-in-chief of the The Hospitalist, and former deputy editor of the Journal of Hospital Medicine as well as the Cleveland Clinic Journal of Medicine. Particular interests include the interface between hospital medicine and infectious diseases, medical education, and perioperative medicine. He is a native Clevelander, and still believes that the Indians will win a World Series within his lifetime.
