Biosketch
Madonna Walters is a Trauma Program Manager (TPM) at Henry Allegiance Health and has 19 years of experience as a trauma coordinator or TPM. For 15 of those 19 years, she was the Trauma Program Manager at an ACS-verified Level II trauma center. Prior to that, Madonna worked in surgical critical care, orthopaedics, clinical research, and as an educator.
In her current role, she is responsible for the overall coordination of clinical and administrative Trauma Program activities at the hospital located in south-central Michigan. This encompasses all trauma care from Emergency Department arrival through discharge or rehab. Madonna's work includes performance improvement, trauma education, protocol development and implementation, data management, research, and community injury prevention activities. She has been involved in numerous educational presentations, both as a planner and as a presenter. These have included annual emergency nurses' conferences, annual trauma symposia, grand rounds, and self-paced learning modules. Madonna has been an invited presenter on trauma topics at over 30 venues, on subjects including trauma center development, team-building, trauma resuscitation, resuscitation end-points, massive transfusion, rapid reversal of anticoagulation, trauma in the elderly, orthopaedic trauma, evidence preservation, and organ donation.
