Biosketch
I grew up in West Texas on a cotton farm, I attended Idalou High School, and later Abilene Christian University and majored in biology. I then attended Texas Tech University both for graduate school in biological sciences followed by medical school, graduating in 2008. Next, I attended the University of Louisville School of Medicine for general surgery residency and critical care fellowship from 2008-2014.
Since 2014, I have been on faculty at the University of Louisville, in the Hiram C. Polk, Jr. Department of Surgery. I am an attending trauma surgeon at the University of Louisville Hospital, as well as being the medical director of the burn unit at University Hospital. I also an am attending general surgeon at Jewish and Norton hospitals, and director of acute care surgery at Norton hospital. I also maintain a private practice focusing on abdominal wall reconstruction and general surgery. I’m a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, and the Central Surgical Association, as well. I serve on various committees both at the hospital and department of surgery level, and actively participate in clinical research with residents and students.
