Svetla Slavova, PhD

Dr. Svetla Slavova is a Professor of Biostatistics at the University of Kentucky. She has been the principal investigator on grants funded by the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the National Institute on Drug Abuse. Dr. Slavova has authored and co-authored many peer-reviewed publications highlighting analytical approaches to understanding and combating the opioid epidemic. She received a Distinguished Leader Award from the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists for her leadership for improved drug overdose mortality surveillance and building epidemiological capacity in state and local health departments, and the Lexington Public Health Hero award for providing free naloxone to community.
