Biosketch
Dr. Jacob Moore is a board certified ophthalmologist whose goal is to offer his patients the most comprehensive eye care that can be provided in this day and age. Dr. Moore believes in providing care with compassion and integrity.
After earning a BS degree in Chemistry from Emory University, Dr. Moore was accepted into The University of Texas Southwestern School of Medicine in Dallas. He then did his Internship and Ophthalmology Residency training at the Medical College of Georgia where he was selected as the Chief Resident for the class of 2006.
Since that time, Dr. Moore served the residents of the Rio Grande Valley as the lead cataract surgeon at Valley Eye Center in Harlingen, TX. During that time, Dr. Moore performed thousands of successful cataract, implant and laser surgeries. In addition, Dr. Moore performs surgery for patients with glaucoma and corneal disease, and he was the first surgeon in South Texas to perform the new advanced technique of corneal endothelial transplantation by DSAEK. Dr. Moore also enjoys treating general ophthalmology conditions such as examinations and laser surgery for diabetes, examinations and surgery for glaucoma, treatment of macular degeneration and symptoms of dry eyes. He also offers BOTOX injections for cosmetic rejuvenation and blepharospasm.
In addition to treating patients, Dr. Moore has been involved in research for the duration of his career. At Emory University Dr. Moore was awarded fellowships by the National Science Foundation in Physical and Organic chemistry and was chosen as the department's Hypercube scholar in 1996. Before attending medical school, Dr. Moore performed private research electrochemistry and electronically conducting polymers for applications in space science, stealth technology and the natural gas industry. In medical school Dr. Moore studied the relationships between depression and asthma. During his ophthalmology training Dr. Moore studied interventional pain management techniques for ophthalmology, the use of photo-polymerized methacrylate adhesives in ophthalmic surgery, and new methods of preserving donor corneas in eye banking. Dr. Moore’s research has been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presented at local and national meetings.
