Biosketch
Dr. Joseph is currently the Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Arizona, Director of Trauma Research and the International Research Fellowship Program and Director of the Arizona Southern Arizona Tele-trauma and Telepresence Program. He is also the Associate Director of the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship. Dr. Joseph completed his Fellowship in Trauma and Critical Care at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, University of Maryland after which he joined as faculty at the University of Arizona.
Dr. Joseph is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons as well as a member of the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma; Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma; and the Association for Academic Surgery. He also serves on numerous national and university committees. Dr. Joseph has authored or co-authored over 70 peer reviewed publications and 8 books chapters and books, and is a highly sought after speaker as he has delivered over 25 talks nationally as well as internationally. His areas of research interest include management of traumatic brain injury, coagulopathy in trauma patients, and geriatric trauma. Dr. Joseph has been an advocate in developing a better understanding of management of traumatic brain injury patients and redefining the role of repeat head CT scans and neurosurgical consultation. His research has focused on management of traumatic brain injury patients by trauma and critical care surgeons. He continues to present and published extensively in this topic and has become a leading voice in the management of traumatic brain injury patients.
