The HEALing Communities Study (HCS) aims to reduce opioid overdose deaths by 40 percent over 3 years in participating communities. A key component of the Communities that Heal intervention is the Opioid Overdose Reduction Continuum of Care Approach - which includes a menu of strategies to Increase Opioid Overdose Prevention Education and Naloxone Distribution (OEND), Enhance Delivery of Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) Maintenance Treatment, and Improve Prescription Opioid Safety. Healthcare provider education is an important part of all strategies.
