Overview
This course will provide a contemporary review of the modern management of spinal disorders. Spine surgery is rapidly evolving into the age of minimally invasive spine and robotic surgery. There is an increasing array of new techniques, surgical approaches, and knowledge about best practices.
Among the many gaps that remain are the best surgical approaches to treat spinal stenosis and deformity. The treatment of deformity, in particular, continues to evolve, with lateral approaches to the spine having recently provided new avenues to potentially enhance outcomes.
This course will specifically provide an update on the contemporary management of stenosis, deformity, cervical spine trauma, and minimally invasive spine surgery. The latest peer-review literature in each area will be discussed, and case reviews will highlight key concepts. Additionally, there will be a review of biomechanics for spine specialists.
The audience will leave with an updated appreciation of modern controversies in spine practice and will also receive an update on the contemporary management of spinal disorders. Education provided to attendees will improve their decision-making skills in the management of the most common spinal problems noted in practice.
