Needs Statement

Nutrition education is limited and/or lacking in professional healthcare and medical curricula. Various nutritional therapies and dietary guidelines are generally controversial and therefore confusing to providers and patients.

Objectives

Upon completition of this activity, participants will be able to:

1. Describe pathophysiology of selected chronic diseases influenced by nutrition.
2. Discuss the impact of nutritional status for each chronic disease.
3. Explain the rationale for nutritional requirements and approaches for intervention.
