Overview

The HHM Conference will be presented by UK Healthcare’s academic physician faculty as well as invited regional and national leaders. The Heartland region, including the Appalachian region, has large areas of underserved populations with poor health indicators. Our perennial hope is to improve the quality and effectiveness of the first line of care received before complex patients require transfer to a university hospital setting for more advanced care. As such, this conference strives to provide educational opportunities to the clinicians who may otherwise have limited access to educational offerings.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, a live, in-person event is not feasible. Still, we feel we have an opportunity and an obligation to use our platform of the HHM conference to encourage information sharing, networking, and continuing education for the providers of our region. In place of a 20-hour CME opportunity as in years past (and, we hope, years to come!), we will deliver a one-day, free CME event with eight hours of content delivery as well as a 90-minute virtual poster session.

We have tailored our topics to serve the most needed and most impactful health conditions. We believe that educating hospitalists about these and other high-yield, highly prevalent, and potentially deadly disease states will have meaningful and long lasting impact on the patients of the Heartland region. Further, we believe this content will be beneficial to traditional internist, family medicine trained physicians, and advanced practice providers who are managing ICU patients.
