Needs Statement

Individuals that use opioids often use cannabinoids as wellHowever, there are many unknowns regarding the safety of using both opioids and cannabinoids, particularly at the doses and via routes of administration that are common with misuse

Target Audience

Peer Support specialists, Care Navigators, Physicians, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Pharmacists, Social Workers 

Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain how cannabinoids modify the abuse potential of opioids
  2. Indicate if cannabis shows as signal as an opioid adjuvant (increasing the analgesic effects of opioids) in experimental laboratory models of pain
  3. Describe if cannabinoids alter the physiological effects/safety of opioids
