Needs Statement

Current primary care practice sites are rarely providing medication-assisted treatment (MAT) as part of the comprehensive care needed for patients who suffer from substance use disorder (SUD) and are seen in this setting. Primary care providers need additional education and information on how to properly implement and use MAT to care for their patients with SUD and close this practice gap.

Target Audience

Healthcare professionals in a primary care setting.

Objectives

Upon completion of this educational activity, learners will be able to:
1. Identify the benefits of use of LAN MAT.
2. Recognize significant risks, warnings, and adverse effects associated with LAN MAT.
3. Explain to primary care patients the significant benefits, risks, warnings, and adverse effects most associated with LAN MAT
