Needs Statement

The Kentucky Maternal Mortality Review Committee (MMRC) is a critical component of the state level perinatal care infrastructure. This multidisciplinary team is engaged in the identification, analysis and public reporting of maternal deaths of Kentucky residents. Major components of the committee along with key findings and recommendations are discussed.

Objectives

Upon competition of this activity, participants will be able to:
1. Improve knowledge about the Kentucky Maternal Mortality Review Program.
2. Recognize the impact of maternal mortality through a comprehensive review of Kentucky mortality data.
3. Identify one recommendation for implementation to improve outcomes for women of childbearing age.
4. Identify one way to collaborate with the Kentucky Perinatal Quality Collaborative for health promotion and prevention efforts to reduce maternal death.
