Needs Statement

Physicians do not receive adequate public health training during their formal medical education to prepare them to serve on local boards of health. They under-utilize or are not aware of many of the resources available to improve their public health practice. This training will help close the gap on this deficiency.

Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Outline current legal responsibilities of local boards of health and health departments, under state and federal law.
  • Identify appropriate methods of confirming legal authority exists for the enforcement of public health policies, including the use of legal counsel.
  • Explain how to budget resources appropriately for enforcement activities.

ACPEThe University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.

This knowledge-based activity has been assigned UAN 0022-9999-20-140-H04-P and will award 0.75 contact hours (0.075 CEUs) of continuing pharmacy education credit in states that recognize ACPE providers.

Statements of participation will indicate hours and CEUs based on participation and will be issued online at the conclusion of the activity. Successful completion includes completing the activity, its accompanying evaluation and/or posttest (score 70% or higher) and requesting credit online at the conclusion of the activity. Credit will be uploaded to CPE Monitor, and participants may print a statement of credit or transcript from their NABP e-profile. The College complies with the Accreditation Standards for Continuing Pharmacy Education.

ABIM MOC Recognition Statement

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 0.75 MOC point in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
