Needs Statement

The implementation of a new high dose insulin protocol for calcium channel blocker and beta blocker overdose is needed as this will be a new therapy modality at our institution. Our goal is to increase understanding of the pharmacodynamics, implementation, and safety of this practice.

Objectives

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
1. Describe the pathophysiology of CCB toxicity
2. Discuss the rationale for using HIET
3. Review the use of HIET comfortably in patients with CCB toxicity
