Biosketch
Brenda Thompson is a clinical speech-language pathologist at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center where she is the clinical lead in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). She has worked with medically fragile infants and toddlers for over 20 years and has been an inpatient speech pathologist at Children’s Hospital for the last 16 years. Her primary clinical focus is on neonatal feeding and swallowing and supporting feeding and development in infants with craniofacial anomalies. She has presented locally and nationally regarding feeding and swallowing in infants and implications of feeding and swallowing in infants with airway anomalies and craniofacial anomalies. She has published an article on feeding and swallowing in infants with Pierre Robin Sequence and impacts of neonatal mandibular distraction. She completes Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES). She is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is a Board Certified Specialist in Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders. She is certified in the use of the Neonatal Oral Motor Assessment Scale (NOMAS) and the Nursing Child Assessment Satellite Training (NCAST).
