Biosketch
Cory Vela, PharmD, is a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Precision Medicine who is working in the Phase I and Precision Medicine clinics; serves as the pharmacist on the Molecular Tumor Board at the University of Kentucky HealthCare Markey Cancer Center; and holds an adjunct professor of pharmacy position at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. Dr. Vela graduated from The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy and then went on to complete a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Indiana University and a PGY2 Oncology Residency at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. During his time as a resident at IU and Moffitt he was exposed to pharmacogenomics and how healthcare professionals are individualizing therapy for cancer patients based upon genetic findings. As a result, he decided to continue his training by completing a Personalized Cancer Medicine Fellowship under Dr. Howard McLeod at Moffitt Cancer Center. Dr. Vela looks forward to working with Dr. Jill Kolesar and the Markey Cancer Center team to continue personalizing cancer treatments for the people of Kentucky through the molecular tumor board and Phase I and Precision Medicine clinics.
