Conrad Gabler is a Doctoral Candidate in the Rehabilitation Sciences Doctoral Program at the University of Kentucky. He works clinically as an athletic trainer in the University of Kentucky Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine clinic at UK. This experience provides him exposure to patients who exhibit persistent quadriceps weakness after ACL reconstruction. His area of scholarship is focused to better understanding the origins of quadriceps weakness and the consequences of inhibition following surgery. His current research efforts are aimed at further understanding the time course of neuromuscular deficits after ACL reconstruction, and testing interventions that can be used to overcome these deficits. His goal is to disseminate the findings from this area of research to other clinicians who treat this patient population. Equipping clinicians with evidence-based knowledge and tools will facilitate better practice and improve patient care.
