Course Description

This innovative on-line continuing education event for emergency physicians, emergency department (ED) support healthcare professionals, and other interested specialties, examines airway emergencies by way of case presentations. This highly interactive format utilizing audience response technology from the original live presentation, and will reveal insights into critical decision making, new medical treatments, and the latest rescue airway techniques. As the cases unfold, you will see how your colleagues managed the patient in the ED using audience survey techniques and will get the benefit of expert feedback on the results of this interaction.

Upon completion of the educational activity, participants will be able to:

  • Utilize appropriate diagnostic measures to recognize, differentiate, and treat both rare and common medically caused airway emergencies seen in the ED
  • Identify the importance of appropriate diagnosis, treatment, and eventual specialist referral for patients with airway emergencies
  • Differentiate the roles of various healthcare professionals within the ED for the immediate and successful treatment of patients with airway emergencies

Course Modules

The course modules from the program are organized as the sessions occurred at the live symposia. Each case discussion includes a brief Q/A discussion involving all of the panel members. At the conclusion of each module, you will be asked to complete a brief posttest and evaluation of the course in order to receive your certificate.
