Course Overview
Kentucky Children’s Hospital Contemporary Pediatrics Conference is designed to provide current information on a variety of medical and surgical conditions affecting infants, children, and adolescents. Outstanding faculty of the Kentucky Children’s Hospital will offer presentations and concurrent sessions on a variety of topics.
Advanced Pediatric Life Support (APLS) will be offered for an additional charge on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at the Marriott Griffin Gate. Although this is designed for physicians, other disciplines are encouraged to attend. The APLS course focuses on the evaluation, diagnosis, and initiation of treatment of many pediatric medical and surgical emergencies during the time the patient’s condition is being stabilized in the clinic or emergency department. Major topics to be addressed include pediatric assessment, pediatric airway, central nervous system, medical emergencies, the cardiovascular system, and trauma. Advanced airway and advanced trauma procedures skill stations will be included. Limited to 25 registrants. Please register as early as possible in order to receive materials by mail prior to the course.

The UK College of Nursing is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation.
The Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN) approves The University of Kentucky College of Nursing as a provider as well. ANCC and KBN approval of a continuing nursing education provider does not constitute endorsement of program content nor commercial sponsors. This activity is offered for a maximum of ANCC (60 minute) 12.25 and 14.5 KBN 50 minute) contact hours for nurses who attend all sessions (4/8/10 = 2.25 ANCC [2.7 KBN], 4/9/10 = 6.25 ANCC [7.3 KBN] 4/10/10 = 3.75 ANCC [4.5 KBN]) contact hours. Provider #: 3-0008-01-13-206-208. In order to receive credit, participants must attend the program and submit a credit application and evaluation form online. Certificates may be printed once the evaluation is completed.
