Course Overview
As we look to the future of medical education and the practice of medicine, several core competencies are paramount to health care delivery – in defining it and in radically improving it. Physicians in all stages of their careers – whether it is at the time of training or as mature practitioners – will be held to new standards.
Systems-based practice; compassionate, safe and effective care; medical knowledge; interpersonal and communication skills; professionalism; and practice based-learning and improvement are not buzzwords. They are core competencies that health care providers must embrace and will be inextricably linked to certification.
The University of Kentucky College of Medicine, in conjunction with its yearlong 50th anniversary celebration, has assembled highly qualified, dynamic speakers to share their perspectives on “Preparing Physicians for the Next 50 Years.”
Physicians, medical students, educators, health care practitioners and health system professionals – this symposium is applicable to individuals involved in all fields and levels of health care delivery.
This symposium will acquaint attendees with ongoing and emerging expectations facing the physician of the next 50 years.
The University of Kentucky College of Medicine celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2010. Be a part of the celebration. Visit the special 50th Anniversary site for more information: http://www.mc.uky.edu/medicine50/
