About the Kentucky Primary Care Association

Kentucky Primary Care Association The Kentucky Primary Care Association was founded in 1975 as a private, non-profit corporation of community health centers, rural health clinics, primary care centers and other organizations and individuals concerned about access to health care services for the state’s underserved rural and urban populations. Association members are providers of primary care – first contact, broadly trained physicians, nurses and other professionals deliver that whole-person health care.

The importance of primary care is more widely recognized. Primary care covers all the cycles of life – prenatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric. The affordable, accessible, comprehensive and continuous nature of primary care makes it a vital element to the health care services in our state.

With an emphasis on prevention, primary care providers focus on the role of the individual in maintaining good health, offering patients the tools and guidance they need to take responsibility for their own health as much as possible.
