Needs Statement

Vascular injury remains a primary cause of exsanguinating hemorrhage and death after trauma.  The evolution of vascular injury care, particularly adjuncts related to endovascular modalities, provides modern trauma practitioners with an expanded array of tools for the care of these patients.

Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the current capabilities and limitations of the use of CTA in the evaluation of vascular injuries in the extremities
  2. Discuss the technique and early results of Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of the Aorta (REBOA) for trauma
  3. Measure the early results with the use of endovascular treatment for vascular injuries
