Needs StatementRapid approval of various testosterone products as well as replacement guidelines has created a need for better education in this area. This is underscored by recent research linking testosterone replacement to cardiovascular morbidity.
Several new testosterone products are now available. These agents vary by route, effect, adverse effects, and cost. Each product requires appropriate use for optimal outcome.
ObjectivesUpon Completion of this activity Pharmacist will be able to:
1. Review the physiologic role of testosterone
2. Discuss the impacts of testosterone deficiency
3. Describe various testosterone replacement modalities
4. Describe monitoring parameters associated with testosterone therapy
The University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
