Needs Statement
Many therapies currently exist today for the treatment of hypertension, however, there still remains a critical need to better establish and define the concept of vascular protection. To appreciate this concept, it is important to understand the data which results in a reduction in the risk of cardiovascular outcomes (MI, stroke or death) associated with some treatment regimens. This educational program will educated the audience on the cardiovascular benefits associated with vascular protection rather than simply treating patients to control hypertension.Target Audience
This program is designed to educate Primary Care Physicians, Endocrinologists, Nephrologists and Cardiologists on the management of cardiovascular disease progression and the long term benefits associated with optimal treatment plans.Objectives
1. List the interrelated metabolic risk factors that to lead to increased risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD);2. Describe currently available evidence for treatment of metabolic syndrome (MBS);
3. Given a patient case, design monitoring plan for the safety and efficacy of treatment for metabolic risk factors
