Needs Statement
Each issue of the International Journal of Advances in Rheumatology will present carefully constructed, leading (review) articles, written by practicingrheumatologists and developed to equip readers with practical knowledge of the area under discussion. These articles are commissioned to support particular educational themes identified by the Editors-in-Chief, Editorial Advisory Board and readers. This issue of the International Journal of Advances in Rheumatology presents three such leading articles.
Target Audience
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of rheumatologists and other clinicians involved in the management of patients with rheumatic diseases.Objectives
After completing the activity, the reader should be able to discuss:1. The pathogenetically distinct subgroups of RA;
2. The role the immune system plays in RA pathogenesis;
3. The various ways in which the inflammatory myopathies are diagnosed;
4. The different treatment regimens;
5. The characteristics of ankylosing spondylitis;
6. The options for pharmacological management.
